HYDERABAD: Twenty-five members of the Hindu community, including children, who were reportedly held in wrongful detention in Nawabshah, have been rescued and released following the intervention of the Sindh High Court’s (SHC) Circuit Bench in Hyderabad.

The case was brought to light through a petition filed with the court, highlighting the alleged illegal detention of the individuals. Responding swiftly, the court issued orders on October 14, directing the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nawabshah and the relevant Station House Officer (SHO) to recover and produce the detainees.

During a follow-up hearing on October 17, police submitted a progress report confirming that all 25 individuals had been successfully rescued. A subsequent judicial inquiry revealed that the detainees, including women and children, had been held without legal justification.

In a written order issued by the Circuit Court, it was confirmed that all rescued individuals have now been allowed to return home freely, without any restrictions on their movement. The court remarked that the detention was unlawful and reiterated the importance of protecting citizens’ constitutional rights.

Human rights activists have welcomed the court’s decision and called for accountability of those responsible for the illegal confinement. Further legal proceedings are expected to address the circumstances surrounding the detention.
