The Pakistan Air Force (PAF) marked the seventh anniversary of Operation Swift Retort with a ceremony held at Air Headquarters, according to ISPR.
Addressing the event, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu said Pakistan is a responsible country that seeks peace but will never compromise on its sovereignty. He recalled that seven years ago, under the cover of darkness, Pakistan’s sovereignty was challenged by an aggressor that miscalculated the country’s resolve and capability.
The air chief stated that following the episode, the PAF comprehensively restructured its operational doctrine, incorporating unmanned systems, electronic warfare capabilities, as well as space and cyber assets. He said the effective integration of space and cyber domains has significantly strengthened the force’s operational capacity.
Referring to developments in May 2025, he said the enemy was given a decisive and unexpected response. He added that the PAF shot down advanced enemy fighter jets, carried out deep strikes inside hostile territory, and destroyed sophisticated air defence systems.
Despite financial constraints, the air chief maintained that the PAF has transformed into a “next generation air force.” He emphasised that the defence of Pakistan’s sovereignty will be ensured at all costs, describing the PAF as a symbol of national pride and an impregnable shield of defence.
