Paharpur declared new district as KP splits DI Khan

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the division of Dera Ismail Khan into two districts, officially adding a new district to the province.

According to a government notification, the newly created district has been named Paharpur, comprising Tehsil Paharpur and Panyala. The area previously functioned as a sub-division.

The notification states that the decision was originally approved during the provincial cabinet’s 39th meeting held on 2 October 2025. The move has now been formally implemented.

Paharpur will also serve as the district headquarters, the statement added. Following the announcement, work has begun on restructuring the administrative setup.

The new district is expected to enhance local governance and improve service delivery. Residents have welcomed the provincial government’s decision, terming it a positive step for the region’s development.
