HARARE: Pakistan Under-19 produced a dominant all-round performance to edge past Zimbabwe U19’s modest 158-run target in just 16.2 overs, losing only one wicket, to clinch the ODI final emphatically.
After winning the toss, the Farhan Yousaf–led Pakistan U19 opted to bowl first and immediately put the hosts under pressure. Pakistan’s pace and spin attack operated with discipline, never allowing Zimbabwe to build momentum.
Zimbabwe U19 were bowled out for 158 in 44.4 overs, with Umair Zaib leading the attack by claiming four wickets, while Abdul Subhan picked up two. Ahmed Hussain, Mohammad Sayyam, and Ahmad Hussain chipped in with a wicket each, ensuring regular breakthroughs and restricting the home side to a below-par total.
In reply, Pakistan U19 made the chase look effortless. The Shaheens came out with positive intent, neutralising Zimbabwe’s bowlers from the outset. The opening pair laid a solid foundation, rotating strike smartly and punishing loose deliveries.
Zimbabwe’s bowlers struggled to contain the flow of runs. Despite trying multiple bowling options — including Shelton Mavziterera, Panashe Mazai, Benny Zuze, and Tatenda Chimgoro — the hosts failed to apply sustained pressure. Only Leeroy Chiwala managed to claim a wicket, dismissing Sameer Minhas at 145, but by then the match was all but over.
Pakistan reached the target at 158-1 in 16.2 overs, showcasing superior batting depth, composure, and intent. The comprehensive victory underlined Pakistan U19’s dominance throughout the contest and highlighted the gap between the two sides on the day.
The win not only sealed the final for Pakistan U19 but also reaffirmed their strength in youth cricket, with both their bowling unit and top order delivering under pressure.
