Kolkata: England has won the toss in the crucial match between Pakistan and England in the ICC World Cup 2023 being held in Eden Garden Kolkata on Saturday.
England captain Jos Buttler has decided to bat first, leaving Pakistan virtually out of the semi-final race at the World Cup.
Pakistan needed to beat England by 287 runs had they batted first in order to go ahead of New Zealand on net run-rate, but their task in chasing is almost unachievable.
Buttler’s squad comes into this match on the back of a convincing 160-run victory over the Netherlands.
On the other hand, Babar Azam’s Pakistan secured a 21-run victory over New Zealand by the DLS method in a rain-affected match.
Shadab Khan replaces Hasan Ali in Pakistan’s line-up against England.
Squads:
England: Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler(w/c), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, David Willey, Gus Atkinson, Adil Rashid
Pakistan: Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Babar Azam(c), Mohammad Rizwan(w), Saud Shakeel, Iftikhar Ahmed, Agha Salman, Shadab Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Haris Rauf
