PAK vs WI: West Indies wins second T20 after thrilling contest against Pakistan

LAUDERHILL: Pakistan hoped of consolidating their lead in the three-match T20I series against the West Indies, but they suffered an early jolt on Sunday, with the loss of their first wicket within the opening two overs.

Pakistan put up a formidable fight but it still fell short of what was needed. Saim Ayub scored 7 runs and Sahibzada Farhan scored 3 runs before falling victim to Jason Holder. Mohammad Haris was dismissed after 4 runs and Fakhar Zaman after 20 runs. Pakistan had set a target of 134 runs while batting first.

From West Indies, Jason Holder played the match-winning innings, with a four on the last ball winning the match for his team. Holder scored an unbeaten 16 off 10 balls. Gudakesh Motie also stood out with 28 runs.

This second match of the series was held at the Central Broward Park and Broward County Stadium. Salman Agha won the toss and elected to bat first.

After dazzling with a match-winning 57 in the first T20I, Saim Ayub was surprisingly dismissed rather cheaply early in the second T20I. His dismissal came courtesy of West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder, caught by wicketkeeper Jewel Andrew for a mere 7 runs off 9 balls.

At the crease for Pakistan are Sahibzadar Farhan and Fakhar Zaman. Farhan has managed 3 runs off 6 balls so far, while Zaman has faced 2 balls and scored 4 runs.

The Pakistan squad for the series against West Indies includes Salman Agha as the captain, Saim Ayub, Fakhar Zaman, Sahibzada Farha, Mohammad Haris and Hasan Nazaw was batters.

The all-rounders includes Mohammad Nawaz and Faheem Ashraf, while the bowling lineup features Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Ali, and Sufyan Muqeem.

West Indies Squad

Meanwhile, the West Indies squad is led by Shai Hope as captain and wicketkeeper. Jewel Andrew, Roston Chase, Sherfane Rutherford, Johnson Charles, Keacy Carty and Alick Athanaze feature in the batting line-up.

Jason Holder and Roston Chase are the team’s all-rounders. Gudakesh Motie, Akeal Hosein, Shamar Joseph and Romario Shepherd complete the bowling lineup.

Jediah Blades is also part of the squad.

In the first T20I played on July 31, Pakistan posted a target of 178 at a loss of six wickets, powered by Saim Ayub (57) and Fakhar Zaman (28).

West Indies tried their best but fell short at 164/7. Mohammad Nawaz’s three wickets were important in curbing the West Indies’ batting lineup.
