Pakistan, Bangladesh move to boost institutional ties during Islamabad visit

WEB DESK: Pakistan places a high premium on institutional cooperation and the sharing of administrative experiences with friendly nations, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar stated on Friday.

Speaking during a meeting with a visiting delegation of senior Bangladeshi civil service officers in Islamabad, the Information Minister underscored the immense potential for structured collaboration between the training and capacity-building institutions of both South Asian countries, according to Radio Pakistan.

Tarar called for a robust expansion of bilateral initiatives, specifically highlighting the need for regular faculty exchanges, joint research programmes, and the co-development of modern training modules to elevate public sector efficiency.

Historical legacy and administrative frameworks

The Information Minister described the ongoing Executive Development Programme between the civil services of Pakistan and Bangladesh as a landmark advancement, marking a significant milestone in bilateral cooperation in recent decades.

He noted that the two nations share deep-rooted historical ties alongside a common legacy in public administration and governance frameworks.

During the discussions, the visiting Bangladeshi delegation expressed a keen interest in Pakistan’s current administrative structure, paying particular attention to the ongoing civil service reforms being implemented across various public sectors.

Fostering regional harmony

Welcoming the recent positive trajectory in bilateral relations, Tarar emphasised that closer institutional ties would serve to further cement mutual trust and pave the way for constructive cooperation in the future.

Tariq Fatemi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, was also in attendance and strongly advocated for the strengthening of professional and institutional linkages between Islamabad and Dhaka.

Fatemi remarked that robust bilateral relations between the two countries remain extremely vital for fostering long-term regional harmony, stability, and mutual understanding within South Asia.
