LAHORE: In the second ODI match of the Asia Cup Super 4 phase, Bangladesh faced a daunting challenge against Pakistan, who bowled them out for a total of 193 runs at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

Bangladesh secured the toss and opted to bat first in the crucial encounter. Mehdi Hasan and Mohammad Naeem opened the innings for Bangladesh, but Mehdi Hasan fell victim to Naseem Shah’s sharp delivery in the very first over, failing to put any runs on the scoreboard.

Liton Das, batting at number three, managed to contribute 16 runs before being caught out by Pakistan’s skipper, Shahin Afridi, off a delivery by Faheem Ashraf. Mohammad Naeem, who opened alongside Mehdi Hasan, also fell prey to Haris Rauf’s bowling after scoring 20 runs.

Haris Rauf, Pakistan’s fast bowler, marked a significant milestone during the game. He completed his 50-wicket haul in One Day Internationals (ODIs) by dismissing Mohammad Naeem. However, his next victim was Tawhid, whom he bowled out without conceding any runs.

With four wickets down and the scoreboard showing only 53 runs, captain Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur Rahim formed a partnership to stabilize Bangladesh’s innings. Shakib managed to score 53 runs before being dismissed. Following Shakib’s exit, Bangladesh’s tail-enders struggled to make an impact on the scoreboard.

In the end, Pakistan’s bowlers, including Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, and Faheem Ashraf, took wickets at regular intervals, leaving the Bangladeshi innings in tatters. Despite a promising start, Bangladesh’s tail-enders couldn’t contribute significantly, and the entire team was bowled out for a total of 193 runs.

The Pakistani bowling attack, led by Haris Rauf’s four wickets, Naseem Shah’s three wickets, and contributions from Shaheen Afridi and Faheem Ashraf, proved to be too much for Bangladesh to handle.

In their chase against Bangladesh, opener Fakhar Zaman was dismissed after scoring 20 runs.

Pakistan lost their first wicket with a total of 35 runs on the board in the 9th over, with one player getting out.
