Pakistan Hong Kong Sixes

In a thrilling display of power hitting and disciplined bowling, Pakistan lifted the Hong Kong Sixes title after defeating Kuwait by 43 runs in the grand final on Sunday.

Batting first, Pakistan put up an explosive total of 135 for 3 in just six overs, thanks to a breathtaking innings from Abbas Afridi, who smashed 52 runs off just 11 balls. His innings featured a barrage of boundaries and sixes that left Kuwait’s bowlers reeling. Abdul Samad added a quick-fire 42, while Khawaja Nafi chipped in with 22 runs, helping Pakistan post a commanding target.

Kuwait’s Mait Bhavsar was the pick of the bowlers, claiming all three Pakistani wickets despite the onslaught.

In response, Kuwait started aggressively but quickly lost momentum against Pakistan’s sharp bowling attack. Adnan Idris top-scored with 30 runs, striking five sixes, but his effort wasn’t enough as Kuwait were restricted to 92 runs. For Pakistan, Moaz Sadaqat shone with the ball, taking three wickets, while Abbas Afridi and Mohammad Shahzad chipped in with one each.

The victory capped off a stellar campaign for Pakistan, who had earlier edged Australia by just one run in a nail-biting semi-final. On the other hand, Kuwait earned their place in the final with a commanding 37-run win over England.

With this triumph, Pakistan reaffirmed their dominance in the fast-paced, power-packed format of the Hong Kong Sixes, combining flair, aggression, and teamwork to claim yet another memorable title.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a congratulatory message for the men in green. He wrote, “Congratulations to the Pakistan Cricket Team and the entire nation on winning the Hong Kong Super Sixes title! A fantastic display of skill, passion, and teamwork truly showcasing Pakistan’s cricketing spirit at its best.”
