Pakistan Day parade: Rawalpindi admin announces public holiday

RAWALPINDI: In light of the upcoming Pakistan Day parade, the Rawalpindi administration has announced a public holiday on Thursday and Friday.

A notification issued by Rawalpindi’s Deputy Commissioner, Hasan Waqar Cheema, announced the local holiday on March 21 and 22. However, it specified that ongoing examinations under the Rawalpindi Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education will proceed unaffected.

It’s important to note that federal institutions typically observe weekends on Saturday and Sunday, the holiday period in Rawalpindi will cover Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The Pakistan Day Parade, also known as the National Day Joint Services Parade, commemorates the Lahore Resolution of 1940.

Held annually on March 23 at Shakarparian in Islamabad, the event features a grand military parade showcasing Pakistan’s patriotic fervor. It serves as a platform to exhibit the nation’s military prowess and cultural diversity, with participation from various military and civil organizations.
