Pakistan deports illegally residing Chinese national

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkwa government has deported a Chinse national after he was arrested in March for illegally entering Dara Adamkhel.
The Chinese national, identified as Li Shingli, who had been languishing in Kohat Jail under the Foreign Act, was deported from Kohat district to China, sources said.
He was arrested on March 4, 2023, within the limits of Dara Adamkhel police station, with a case of arms possession registered against him, according to the police.
Upon release, Li Shingli was adorned with flowers, placed in a special vehicle, and handed over to Hazara police, who, in turn, handed him over to the Gilgit-Baltistan police.
The Chinese national was subsequently deported to China through the Sost border on November 28.
The Kohat police did not specifically mention about the purpose of his visit to Kohat and Dara Adamkhel.
Police officers accused of stealing from Afghan deportees
The police said that the Chinese citizen did not talk to anyone throughout his imprisonment.
The Kohat Jail administration said that there were no more foreign prisoners in the jail.
Meanwhile, the KP home ministry said that 5,844 illegal Afghans have been deported, while 241,000 Afghans have voluntarily returned home.
