Pakistan envoy meets Lebanese interior minister to discuss strengthening bilateral ties

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador to Lebanon, Salman Athar, met with Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar on Monday to discuss strategies for strengthening bilateral cooperation and deepening diplomatic ties between the two nations.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan Embassy in Lebanon, Ambassador Athar delivered a letter from Pakistan’s Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Beirut, according to official sources.

Strengthening diplomatic and security cooperation

The discussion focused primarily on identifying fresh avenues for mutual cooperation across various sectors, with a particular emphasis on security, interior matters, and institutional engagement.

Both dignitaries reviewed the current state of bilateral relations and emphasised the importance of frequent high-level exchanges to sustain diplomatic momentum. Ambassador Athar reiterated Pakistan’s desire to strengthen ties with Lebanon, saying that structured cooperation between the interior ministries could benefit both countries.

Minister Al-Hajjar acknowledged Pakistan’s consistent support and expressed a desire to expand cooperation in other areas.

Commitment to regional peace

Beyond bilateral matters, the two sides discussed the regional security situation. Both the ambassador and the minister reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to supporting efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region. They agreed that close coordination between Pakistan and Lebanon remains vital for addressing shared regional challenges and fostering long-term stability in the Middle East and South Asia.
