ISLAMABAD: The federal government has abolished the cash collection of fees or charges for any official or related process, including the protector of emigrants. This measure was taken as part of the government’s efforts to safeguard the rights of Pakistani overseas job seekers and to enhance transparency in the emigration process.

According to official sources, the government is taking measures to curb illegal practices, reduce fraud, and ensure that job seekers are not exploited during the recruitment process.

In this regard, the Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment has issued a formal notification to relevant ministries and institutions. The letter states that all candidates going abroad for employment will now be required to make payments strictly through banks or approved online and digital payment methods.

The notification further clarifies that overseas employment promoters are also prohibited from collecting cash from candidates. All fees and charges must be paid only through authorised banking channels or approved digital platforms. This measure is intended to create a clear financial trail and improve accountability within the system.

Officials have warned that any violation of the new policy will result in strict action. In cases where overseas employment promoters are found collecting cash, their licenses may be suspended or canceled.

Every month, thousands of Pakistani citizens travel abroad in search of better employment opportunities. Authorities believe that these new measures will help protect workers from financial exploitation, promote transparency, and strengthen confidence in the overseas employment process.
