Pakistan is actively pursuing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and promote peace in the region, a Foreign Office spokesperson said, highlighting Islamabad’s growing role in ongoing engagement with multiple countries.

Leadership engages regional and global partners

According to the Foreign Office, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been in continuous contact with world leaders to discuss the evolving situation. He held detailed talks with the Saudi crown prince and also spoke with Iran’s president to exchange views on the crisis.

The prime minister has further reached out to leaders of Kuwait, Turkiye, Jordan, Lebanon, Egypt, and Bangladesh as part of efforts to build consensus and encourage dialogue. Officials said these engagements reflect Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in de-escalation.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has also remained actively involved on the diplomatic front, maintaining contacts with regional counterparts throughout the week to support peace initiatives.

Call for restraint and global attention

The Foreign Office said Pakistan continues to raise its voice against attacks targeting civilians, including mosques, women, and children, stressing the need for restraint and adherence to international norms.

Separately, the spokesperson condemned the continued closure of the Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, including during Eid, calling it a matter of serious concern. Pakistan urged the international community to take notice of the situation.

Officials also reiterated Pakistan’s stance against Islamophobia, noting the country’s role in designating March 15 as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.

Emphasising the importance of sustained diplomacy, the spokesperson said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is personally leading these efforts, while the Foreign Office remains engaged in continuous consultations. He cautioned against speculation circulating in media and on social platforms, stressing that diplomacy requires patience and consistency.

Pakistan, he said, remains firmly committed to continuing its efforts for regional peace and stability.
