Pakistan, Jordan sign key agreements to boost cultural and media cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Jordan on Saturday signed four documents aimed at strengthening cultural, academic and media cooperation between the two countries.
The Jordan’s King Abdullah II arrived in Pakistan in the evening today (Saturday) on a two-day official visit.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other top officials received him at Nur Khan Airbase.

Both sides signed a Programme for Cultural Cooperation during a high-level talks in the evening tonight, setting the foundation for enhanced people-to-people exchanges, joint cultural events, academic interactions, and heritage preservation initiatives.

Another MoU that the two countries signed was for the establishment of a Chair in Urdu and Pakistan Studies at the University of Jordan. The agreement, signed in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, aims at promoting the Urdu language and deepening academic research on Pakistan’s history, society and culture.
Regarding the media field, both countries also finalised two major agreements aimed at expanding collaboration between state broadcasters. The first is an agreement between Pakistan Television Corporation and the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation. This partnership will facilitate content exchange, training programmes and co-production opportunities.
Additionally, a cooperation agreement between the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation and the Jordan Radio and Television Corporation was formalised to boost radio content sharing, professional training, and technology support.
Officials said the agreements reflect the shared commitment of both nations to deepen bilateral ties and broaden cooperation across cultural, educational and media sectors.
