Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan sign 15 agreements and MoUs in energy and trade cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan signed 15 agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in energy, trade, and various other sectors.
A formal welcome ceremony was held at the Prime Minister’s House, where Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov was accorded a warm reception and presented with a guard of honour.
President Japarov held a meeting with PM, which was also attended by Field Marshal Asim Munir.
Premier Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening regional connectivity under the country’s “Vision Central Asia” policy.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of deepening and expanding bilateral relations, agreeing to boost trade and investment between the two countries. They also expressed satisfaction over the operational status of the road corridor.
The two sides further agreed that disputes must be resolved peacefully in accordance with international law and the UN Charter. Discussions also included the importance of a peaceful Afghanistan and a sustainable future for the Afghan people.
The Kyrgyz president described Pakistan as a trusted friend and stated that the CASA-1000 project would play a key role in meeting energy needs. He added that both nations are committed to combating terrorism.
Following the meeting, Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan signed 15 agreements and MoUs aimed at strengthening cooperation in energy, trade, and other areas.
It is noteworthy that president Sadyr Japarov arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit on Wednesday, where he was received by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
