Pakistan, Lebanon agree to expand defence cooperation as military chiefs hold talks

WEB DESK: Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a meeting with the Commander-in-Chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces, General Rodolphe Haykal, during which both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, regional developments, and avenues to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a guard of honour to the visiting Lebanese military chief on his arrival.
The military media wing stated that the discussions focused on enhancing professional collaboration, expanding training exchanges, and reinforcing institutional linkages between the armed forces of Pakistan and Lebanon.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening long-standing fraternal relations and promoting closer defence ties.
Focus on regional stability and military collaboration
During the meeting, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir underscored the importance Pakistan attaches to its cordial and enduring relationship with Lebanon, while reiterating Islamabad’s resolve to broaden defence cooperation in diverse fields.
The Lebanese Army chief, General Haykal, appreciated the professionalism and operational capabilities of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged Pakistan’s contributions to international peacekeeping missions.
Both sides also exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and stressed the need for continued engagement to promote peace and stability.
The two military leaderships agreed to further enhance professional exchanges and training cooperation as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral defence relations.
