The operation was launched immediately after a distress call was received from the ship, which was situated approximately 200 nautical miles off the Pakistani coastline, according to Dawn News.

Rapid deployment and emergency assistance

Upon receiving the emergency signal, the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) activated its Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre to synchronise the lifesaving efforts.

The naval vessel PNS HUNAIN was diverted to the scene to provide critical support.

Upon arrival, the naval team faced a complex situation requiring immediate intervention; they provided essential medical aid to the crew, deployed firefighting measures to stabilise the vessel, and implemented damage control procedures to prevent further escalation of the crisis.

Following the stabilisation of the scene, the naval team conducted a safe evacuation of the 18 crew members, who represent a variety of nationalities.

The rescued mariners have since been transported to Karachi, where they are receiving comprehensive medical evaluations and further care.
