Pakistan open U18 Asia Cup hockey campaign with 3–0 win over China

KAKAMIGAHARA: Pakistan made a strong start to their U18 Asia Cup hockey campaign with a commanding 3–0 victory over China on Saturday, showcasing clinical finishing and disciplined defence in their opening group match.

Pakistan controlled the contest from the outset, scoring early and maintaining pressure throughout the game to secure a comfortable win at the tournament being held in Kakamigahara, Japan, until June 6.

Usman opened the scoring in the sixth minute, giving Pakistan an early advantage. Adeel doubled the lead in the 11th minute with a well-placed strike, before Yaseen sealed the victory in the 56th minute with a late goal that capped a dominant performance.

Pakistan’s goalkeeper and defensive unit also delivered a solid display, keeping China scoreless throughout the match.

Pakistan player Asnan was named “Man of the Match” for his standout performance, playing a key role in both attack and build-up play.

The win gives Pakistan an ideal start to the tournament as they look to advance from the group stage with momentum.

Pakistan will face Malaysia in their second group match on Saturday, followed by a clash against Bangladesh on June 3.

The final and third-place playoff of the U18 Asia Cup are scheduled to be played on June 6.
