Pakistan Railways succeeds in breaking 30-year revenue record: Hanif Abbasi claims

ISLAMABAD: Railway Minister Hanif Abbasi claimed that the daily revenue of the Pakistan Railways has broken a 30-year record following the recent reforms brought in the sector.

In the past 8 months, reforms in the railway have led to an extraordinary increase in passenger and freight revenue, said the minister, adding that daily revenue has reached PKR300million.

Pakistan Railways has been fully digitised, and special attention is being given to station upgrades as well as track improvements, said the minister.

Hanif Abbasi also said that the agreements for track improvement from Naukundi to Rohri and from Rohri to Karachi have also been completed.

He said that all targets for the current fiscal year will be achieved by December 31, 2026, in line with Prime Minster Shehbaz Sharif’s vision.

He added that due to modernisation and reforms, the railway is on the path of development, and the prospects for further improvement in the future are bright.
