WEB DESK: Pakistan Railways has suspended train operations on the Quetta–Sibi section for one day, disrupting the Quetta-Peshawar service and prompting the authorities to announce full refunds for affected passengers.
According to railway officials, train operations on the Quetta–Sibi section of the Quetta Division will remain suspended on July 9 due to technical reasons and essential maintenance work. As a result, Train No. 39 Down, scheduled to depart from Quetta for Peshawar, will not operate.
Officials said a decision regarding Train No. 40 Up would be taken in light of the operational situation. The train is expected to run only up to Jacobabad before continuing towards Peshawar as Train No. 39 Down, subject to operational feasibility.
Full refunds for passengers
The railway administration said passengers affected by the suspension would be entitled to a full refund of their ticket fare without any deductions.
A Pakistan Railways spokesperson said the temporary suspension was necessary to facilitate essential repair work on the Quetta–Sibi section, adding that normal train services would resume once the maintenance work had been completed.
Railway authorities advised passengers to check the latest train schedules before travelling and said updates on the restoration of services would be issued once maintenance work on the Quetta–Sibi section had been completed.
