Pakistan reaffirms solidarity with Iran amid regional tensions

ISLAMABAD: In a significant diplomatic engagement on the sidelines of the International Maritime Expo and Conference held in Islamabad, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghadam.
During the meeting, the prime minister strongly reiterated Pakistan’s condemnation of the recent Israeli aggression against Iran and expressed heartfelt condolences over the loss of innocent lives.
Discussing the evolving regional landscape, the prime minister conveyed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the government and people of Iran during this period of heightened tension.
Referring to his recent telephone conversation with Iranian President Dr Masoud Pezeshkian, Prime Minister Shehbaz emphasized that Pakistan has extended its support to Iran at the United Nations Security Council, denouncing the Israeli attacks as a blatant violation of the UN Charter and international law.
On the other hand, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has warned that misleading and false information is being spread, clarifying that Pakistan has not made any statement regarding a nuclear strike on Israel.
Speaking in the Senate, Dar said that Indian propaganda accounts on social media are circulating fake and misleading news.

He mentioned that a 2011 video clip of (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu regarding Pakistan had gone viral, and similarly, a clip about (US President Doland) Trump was circulated before it was found to be fake. A fabricated clip of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif was also shared on social media, he said.
He said that Pakistan’s armed forces are on full alert, and Israel would not even dare to look at Pakistan with hostility.
