Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, strongly criticised India during a United Nations Security Council meeting on the situation in Afghanistan, accusing New Delhi of supporting militant groups and spreading disinformation.
Responding to remarks made by the representatives of India and Afghanistan at the council session, Ahmad said Pakistan’s recent operations against militant infrastructure inside Afghanistan had undermined what he described as India’s “investment” in terrorist networks.
“One can sense India’s pain in seeing its heavy investment in the Afghan terrorist franchise going to waste as a result of Pakistan’s precise and effective action against terrorist camps and support bases inside Afghanistan,” he said.
The Pakistani envoy also accused India of repeatedly violating international law and the principles of the UN Charter. He alleged that New Delhi was involved in state repression and destabilising activities in the region.
Ahmad further criticised India over its policies in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, accusing it of perpetrating state terrorism and systematically marginalising minorities. He also claimed that India was spreading hate and using disinformation as part of its state policy.
The diplomat additionally accused India of attempting to weaponise water resources to harm Pakistan’s population.
The remarks came during a discussion at the Security Council on the evolving situation in Afghanistan, where member states exchanged views on security challenges and regional stability.
