Pakistan says 663 Taliban fighters killed, 887 wounded in Afghanistan air strikes

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said it had killed 663 Afghan Taliban fighters and wounded 887 in ongoing operations across Afghanistan, destroying scores of Taliban positions, vehicles, and military infrastructure, officials said on Friday.

According to a statement from Pakistan’s Information Minister, Pakistani forces have destroyed 249 Taliban check posts and captured 44 others.

In addition, 224 tanks, armoured vehicles, and artillery guns were destroyed, and 70 Taliban and affiliated terrorist infrastructure locations were targeted in air strikes across Afghanistan.

Military sources said that operations conducted on the night of March 12–13 struck Taliban and allied militant facilities, including logistic bases and camps in Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia provinces. In Kandahar, Pakistan’s forces destroyed an airfield oil storage site along with adjacent logistical infrastructure, which the Taliban had allegedly used to fuel their operations.

Footage released by the military shows that only militant facilities were targeted, with no civilian populations or infrastructure affected. Officials said the videos also counter Afghan and Indian media claims that Pakistan’s operations were harming civilians.

In Kabul, Pakistani air strikes destroyed an ammunition depot of the 313 Corps, used by Taliban forces, again without causing harm to civilians, according to the military.

The information minister said operations under “Operation Ghazb lil Haq” would continue until Pakistan achieved its objectives, emphasizing that strikes are precise and aimed solely at terrorist targets.
