Pakistan to face India on Oct 10 as ICC announces 2027 ODI World Cup schedule

Arch-rivals Pakistan and India will face each other on October 10 in Johannesburg after the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the complete schedule for the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The 14-team tournament will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia and will feature 57 matches across 12 venues.
Pakistan have been placed in Group A alongside India, defending champions Australia, Afghanistan, co-hosts Zimbabwe and Qualifier A.
The Green Shirts will begin their World Cup campaign against Afghanistan on October 8.
Pakistan will then take on India on October 10 in Johannesburg before facing Qualifier A on October 15.
Pakistan’s remaining Group A matches are against Zimbabwe on October 19 and Australia on October 22 in Paarl.
The tournament will begin with the Super Series in Windhoek on October 2, featuring three teams that qualify through the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier. The teams will play a round-robin stage, with the top two advancing to the main round.
The main round will feature 12 teams divided into two groups of six.
Australia will open the main round against India in Cape Town on October 7 in a repeat of the 2023 World Cup final.
Following the Group Stage, the top three teams from each group, along with the highest-ranked remaining team across the two groups, will advance to the Super Seven phase.
The seven teams will play six further matches from October 25 to November 14, with the top four advancing to the semi-finals.
The World Cup final is scheduled to be played on November 21.
The official schedule was unveiled at a launch event in Cape Town on Thursday, with former and current cricket stars featuring in the programme.
The ICC has also opened registration for its ticket ballot, giving fans an opportunity to register their interest in matches across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
The tournament will be the 14th edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and will be the biggest edition staged in Africa.
