Pakistan to launch first high-speed bullet train between Lahore and Rawalpindi

LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has signed an agreement with the Punjab government to launch its first fast bullet train service between Lahore and Rawalpindi

The agreement was signed by Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore.

The proposed service is expected to complete the journey between the two cities in about two hours and 15 minutes, significantly reducing travel time on one of the country’s busiest rail corridors.

Under the agreement, both the Punjab government and Pakistan Railways will collaborate on the development and operation of the high-speed train project.

Officials said the initiative is part of broader efforts to modernise Pakistan’s transport infrastructure and improve intercity connectivity between major urban centres.

Further details regarding the project’s timeline, cost and technology to be used are expected to be announced later.
