WEB DESK: Pakistan has urged the international community to harness artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies responsibly to bolster global food security and nutrition.
Speaking virtually at the Forum on Harnessing Artificial Intelligence, Digitalisation and Data Governance for Food Security and Nutrition in Rome, Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain said emerging technologies could play a transformative role in building more resilient and inclusive agrifood systems.
Transformative potential of digital innovation
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to leveraging modern tools in agriculture, the minister emphasised that AI and digitalisation could play a pivotal role in building more inclusive and resilient agrifood systems, according to Radio Pakistan.
He noted that these technologies offered significant opportunities to address challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity and supply chain inefficiencies that threaten food security worldwide.
Pledge for international cooperation
Hussain stressed the need for collective global action, stating that Pakistan would continue to work closely with international partners to realise the benefits of AI and digital tools.
He called for responsible governance of data and technology to ensure equitable access, particularly for developing nations.
The minister’s remarks underscore Pakistan’s proactive stance on integrating cutting-edge solutions into its agricultural strategy while advocating for multilateral efforts to tackle one of humanity’s most pressing challenges.
