PESHAWAR: Sonia Shamroz Khan, a senior officer of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police, has been nominated for the International Police Officer of the Year Award for her role in preventing violence against women, forced marriages, female suicides and best policing during her posting in different regions of the province.
According to Hum News, SSP Sonia Shamroz first attracted media attention when she became the first female to serve as the District Police Officer (DPO) in the Battagram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 2022.
During her posting, the woman police officer not only established complaint cells to prevent violence against women and forced marriages in Battagram and Chitral, but also worked with various organisations to address women’s issues and the rising trend of suicide among girls.
