DOVER: A 25-year-old Pakistani-American man has been arrested in US state of Delaware on allegations of illegal weapons possession and plotting an attack, according to US media reports.
The suspect, identified as Luqman Khan, was arrested late on November 24 after police stopped a truck in the Canby Park West area. Authorities say Khan refused repeated instructions to exit the vehicle and was detained for resisting.
During a search of the truck, police reportedly recovered a handgun, a magazine, and documents outlining an alleged attack plan. Among the materials was a diagram of the University of Delaware police station, details of internal and external doorways, and the name of a police officer, media reports said.
The FBI carried out a follow-up raid at Khan’s residence on November 25, where agents discovered additional, more sophisticated weapons.
Officials confirmed that Khan is a Pakistani-American student at the University of Delaware and is suspected of planning an attack targeting the university’s police department.
Khan now faces charges including illegal possession of a machine gun and planning an attack. He is scheduled to appear in court on December 11. Authorities also noted that Khan has no prior criminal record.
