Pakistani fans outraged as ICC T20 World Cup ticket poster omits Green Shirts skipper

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan cricket fans eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated ICC Men’s World Cup 2026 clash between Pakistan and India have expressed outrage after Pakistani T20I captain Salman Ali Agha was omitted from the official ICC ticket poster released today.

Many fans initially suspected that the image might have been AI-generated, as they hoped Indian players would uphold sportsmanship, especially after controversies during the Asia Cup 2025 match between Pakistan and India involving T20I captain Yadav.

However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sparked controversy by completely excluding Pakistan’s captain from the poster, raising serious questions for the ICC to address, fans expressed.

Experts note that such incidents could have wider implications for cricket diplomacy. Despite India’s efforts to strengthen its cricketing reputation, continued omissions like this may fuel tensions in the future. For example, if the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were to host an ICC global event, similar oversights could occur.

The ICC now faces calls from fans to address the gap in accountability, as many wonder whether India would act differently if the global governing body imposed stricter oversight following the Asia Cup incident.
