Pakistan’s armed forces, China’s PLA are ‘true partners’: Field Marshal Asim Munir

WEB DESK: Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir said Pakistan’s armed forces and China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were true partners, adding that the Pakistan-China friendship had remained strong and steadfast despite shifting regional and global challenges.

According to a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), a ceremony marking the 99th founding anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army was held at GHQ Rawalpindi.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong attended the event as chief guest, along with China’s Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, officials from the Chinese embassy, and senior officers from Pakistan’s three armed services.

Welcoming the guests, Field Marshal Munir congratulated the PLA on its 99th founding anniversary and paid tribute to its contributions to China’s defence, national development and the promotion of global peace and security.

He said the friendship between the two countries was unique, tested and one that had stood the test of time, reaffirming that Pakistan’s armed forces and the PLA were true partners. He said Pakistan and China remained committed to regional peace, stability and safeguarding shared strategic interests.
