Pakistan’s diplomacy praised by EU following Iran-US ceasefire

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas on Wednesday to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East.

During the call, Minister Dar highlighted Pakistan’s continuous diplomatic efforts to promote dialogue and de-escalation in the region, emphasising the country’s commitment to facilitating a peaceful resolution between conflicting parties.

High Representative Kallas expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s constructive role, noting its contribution in creating space for negotiations, including the mediation that helped secure the recent two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran. She further reaffirmed the European Union’s support for Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving sustainable regional stability.

The discussion underlined the importance of sustained dialogue and collaboration among international stakeholders to consolidate peace efforts. Pakistan’s mediation, recognized by the EU, reinforces its role as a key facilitator in regional diplomacy amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.

Both officials agreed to maintain close communication as diplomatic engagements continue and as parties prepare for upcoming talks scheduled in Islamabad to solidify long-term conflict resolution.
