Pakistan’s FM Dar to visit China for high-stakes diplomacy

WEB DESK: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar is set to embark on an official visit to China tomorrow, 31 March, following a formal invitation from Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The visit, announced by the Foreign Office (FO) on Monday, underscores the “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership” between the two nations, marked by consistent coordination on both regional and global security matters.

The visit is expected to serve as a platform for in-depth consultations on bilateral interests and the shifting geopolitical landscape in Asia.

Mediating middle eastern stability

The trip follows a high-level telephone exchange on Friday, where Dar and Wang Yi discussed the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

With Pakistan currently playing a central role in mediating indirect communications between the United States and Iran supported by regional partners such as Riyadh, Ankara, and Cairo China has voiced strong support for Islamabad’s constructive influence.

Both ministers have reaffirmed their commitment to promoting a ceasefire and ensuring the safety of vital international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz, through sustained dialogue and diplomacy.
