MIAMI: Pakistan’s rising combat sports star Shahzaib Rind delivered a dominant performance at Karate Combat 61, defeating former UFC fighter Andre Ewell with a second-round knockout in Miami, Florida.
The Quetta-born fighter stepped into the bout amid last-minute changes after his original opponent, Patricky Pitbull, was ruled out following a pre-fight altercation that left him injured.
Ewell accepted the fight on short notice, but Rind remained unfazed. From the opening round, the Pakistani champion controlled the contest with precise strikes and powerful kicks, keeping his opponent under pressure.
In the second round, Rind sealed the victory with a decisive head kick that sent Ewell to the canvas, prompting an immediate stoppage by the referee.
Beyond the knockout, Rind drew widespread praise for his sportsmanship. After the fight, he announced he would share part of his prize money with Ewell, acknowledging his opponent’s willingness to step in at the last minute.
“Respect is everything in this game,” Rind said.
Rind, who is Pakistan’s first Karate Combat world champion, has steadily built an international reputation. Known for his aggressive style and knockout power, he has emerged as one of the country’s most prominent figures in combat sports.
