Parliamentary committee to nominate Balochistan caretaker CM

balochistan assembly

QUETTA: As the constitutional deadline for nominating a caretaker chief minister of Balochistan expired, the responsibility of resolving the impasse has been passed to a parliamentary committee.

Chief Minister of Balochistan, Abdul Qudous Bizenjo, and the opposition leader found themselves at an impasse regarding the selection of a suitable candidate for the caretaker chief minister role. With no consensus reached, the matter has now been entrusted to a parliamentary committee.

The forthcoming parliamentary committee will comprise three members from each of the following entities: the Chief Minister’s office, opposition leader Triji, and the opposition benches. According to constitutional provisions, this committee is mandated to reach a decision within a period of three days.

Should the parliamentary committee fail to reach a consensus, the matter will be elevated to the Election Commission. This escalation underscores the importance of ensuring a smooth transition of leadership to the caretaker chief minister role in Balochistan, as per constitutional requirements.
