LAHORE: Lahore is set for a tightly secured New Year’s Night as Punjab Police roll out an extensive security plan, warning that violators will face strict punishment.
Punjab’s Inspector General o0f Police (IGP) Usman Anwar has ordered heightened security measures across the province, with Lahore receiving special attention. Over 25,000 police officers and personnel will be on duty province-wide, including more than 5,000 in Lahore alone, to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration.
Authorities will monitor activities through CCTV cameras across Punjab, and police have been instructed to remain vigilant against any anti-national elements. IGP Anwar said that dangerous stunts such as one-wheeling, aerial firing, and rioting will not be tolerated. Mischievous individuals who harass women or create trouble for citizens will be immediately taken into custody.
In addition to standard policing, IGP Anwar has also directed coordinated traffic arrangements and increased patrolling by specialised units including the Dolphin Squad, Peru, Elite Force, and PHP teams on major roads and highways. Regular search and sweep operations will continue in all cities, including Lahore, to maintain law and order.
This New Year’s Eve, the message is clear: celebrate safely, follow the rules, or be prepared to be punished for breaking them!
