ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has announced that passport offices in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad will remain open on February 5 to facilitate citizens, despite the public holiday announced for Kashmir Solidarity Day. 

According to a notification issued by directorate on Tuesday, the passport offices at Garden Town in Lahore, G-10/4 in Islamabad, and Awami Markaz in Karachi will operate as usual on Wednesday.

DG Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi said that the move is part of the department’s 24/7 service initiative to ensure uninterrupted public services. 

DC Islamabad to be available

The Islamabad district administration has announced that its open-door policy will remain effective on the public holiday. Citizens facing various issues can meet Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon at his office tomorrow. 

According to the announcement, DC Irfan Nawaz Memon will be available until 2 pm to assist citizens personally. 

DC said the decision was made to ensure public convenience as resolving citizens’ concerns promptly and effectively remains a top priority. 

He urged residents to visit without any reference as part of the administration’s open-door policy.

Kashmir Solidarity Day will be observed on Wednesday to express the wholehearted support of Pakistani nation to the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination under UN resolutions.

A public holiday has been declared, and all government, semi-government, private offices, and schools will remain closed.

The State Bank of Pakistan and all its offices will also remain closed tomorrow (Wednesday).

Preparations for the day

Preparations are in full swing to observe the Kashmir Solidarity Day to highlight the plight of oppressed Kashmiri people and to remind the world community of its obligations towards the resolution of the longstanding dispute.

Cold, dry weather predicted across Pakistan

Rallies, public meetings, and seminars will be held across the country, including Azad Kashmir to draw the attention of the world community towards grave human rights violations and brutalities against innocent Kashmiris by the Indian security forces.

All Pakistan missions abroad will organise seminars and photo exhibitions to draw the world’s attention towards the plight of Kashmiris.

Special cultural programs and festivals are organized to highlight Kashmiri culture and traditions. News and entertainment channels broadcast special programs, talk shows, dramas, and Kashmiri songs, shedding light on the oppression and brutalities faced by Kashmiris over the years.

Educational institutions arrange debate competitions and dialogue forums where students share their views and suggest solutions for Kashmir-related issues.
