Passport printing resumes after lamination paper availability

ISLAMABAD: A crucial passport lamination paper update has come forth. A severe passport paper shortage in Pakistan caused the nationwide disruption in passport printing, but authorities have now successfully resolved the issue, and the process is back in full swing.

This update was communicated in an official press release. The Director General Immigration and Passports announced the resumption of passport printing, attributing this positive development to the removal of certain technical hurdles, in line with the directives of the Minister for the Interior, Sarfaraz Bugti. Many had been anxiously following the passport printing issue in Pakistan.

During this time, nationwide passport offices encountered technical glitches. The suspension of new passport issuance for over a week caused the backlog of unprinted passports to surge to 700,000, but authorities are now addressing it.

The Directorate General of Immigration & Passports has recently received the lamination paper order, ensuring the necessary supplies for passport production. Additionally, the Interior Ministry has taken proactive measures to expedite the delivery of passports, including the deployment of extra machinery and staff.

Under the new schedule, passport offices will be operational from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm during the first four days of the week, with a slightly earlier closure at 12:30 pm on Fridays. This adjustment aims to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
