WEB DESK: The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has categorically dismissed recent reports suggesting delays in passport printing, branding them as baseless.

In an official statement, the spokesperson asserted that the passport issuance process in Pakistan has fully resumed its normal operations following the acquisition of essential lamination paper.

Refuting what was termed fake news circulating on social media and other platforms, the spokesperson highlighted that urgent category passports are now printed within three days, while urgent ones are processed in five days.

Additionally, the statement highlighted that regular passports are consistently being printed within a month, attributing the return to normalcy to the procurement of a substantial quantity of lamination paper crucial for passport production.

Addressing the earlier challenges faced in passport printing, the Interior Ministry took swift action in October, deploying supplementary machinery and personnel to expedite the process.

Following the directive from the caretaker interior minister, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports successfully obtained the necessary lamination papers, initiating a focused effort to eliminate the backlog of 700,000 unprinted passports.

According to ARY News Urdu, efforts to overcome the shortage included the deployment of additional machinery and staff, showcasing the government’s commitment to swiftly resolving the issue.

The statement assured the public that the passport printing process is now operating efficiently, debunking any misconceptions about ongoing delays.
