PCB announces new captains for two formats

New captains

LAHORE: On Wednesday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) revealed the appointed captains for white and red-ball cricket, following the resignation of the former skipper Babar Azam on the same day. Shan Masood, a left-handed batsman, is set to lead the Test cricket team, while the responsibility for the shorter format will be shouldered by the left-arm pacer, Shaheen Afridi.

Earlier today, Babar Azam stepped down from the captaincy of the Pakistan men’s cricket team across all formats.

It was reported earlier that PCB will remove Babar Azam from leadership roles in One Day Internationals (ODIs) and T20s.

It was also reported that PCB had decided to retain him as the captain for the upcoming Test series against Australia.  However, Babar declined the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) proposal to retain him solely as the Test captain.
