PCB issues show-cause notice to Naseem Shah over social media post

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued a show-cause notice to fast bowler Naseem Shah for allegedly violating the terms of his central contract as well as the board’s media policy and regulations.

The action comes after a post from Naseem’s X account questioned the treatment of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, stating: “why is she treated like the queen at Lord’s?”

According to the PCB, Naseem has been directed to submit his response within a stipulated timeframe. The board said further action will be taken after reviewing his reply in line with its regulations.

Sources said the post was shared in connection with the opening ceremony of the Pakistan Super League at Gaddafi Stadium, where Maryam Nawaz was present.

The PCB has not issued further details, and no immediate comment was available from Naseem Shah.

Meanwhile, Naseem Shah said in a post on X “this account of Naseem was recently hacked but now recovered successfully.”
