PCB update: Pakistan and Italy forge historic cricket partnership

ROME: In a landmark move for international cricket, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Italian Cricket Federation (FCRI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote the sport and foster mutual cooperation between the two nations.

The agreement was officially signed by PCB Chief Operating Officer Sameer Ahmed Syed and Italian Cricket Federation President Maria Lorena. Officials described the MoU as a historic milestone aimed at the joint development of both men’s and women’s cricket.

The partnership comes on the heels of Italy’s recent qualification for the T20 World Cup, highlighting the growing influence of European cricket on the global stage.

Under the agreement, the PCB and FCRI will:

  • Exchange coaching and technical experts to enhance player development.
  • Organise joint training camps, workshops, and seminars.
  • Arrange friendly matches and bilateral tournaments for men and women.
  • Collaborate on cricket infrastructure and youth development programs in Italy.
  • Provide technical support for establishing grounds, academies, and talent scouting systems.

PCB COO Sameer Ahmed Syed said the partnership “will give a new dimension to cricket and sports diplomacy between Pakistan and Italy, further strengthening the ties between our two countries.”

The MoU marks a significant step in expanding cricket’s footprint in Europe and demonstrates the PCB’s commitment to nurturing international cricket relations.
