Pervez Musharraf’s attacker dies in Sahiwal jail

SAHIWAL: A prisoner convicted for making an assassination attempt on former president General Pervez Musharraf died in Sahiwal Jail, reported on Saturday.

Sahiwal District Sessions Judge ordered a judicial inquiry into the death of prisoner Karam Din and appointed Judicial Magistrate as Inquiry Officer to probe his death in jail.

50-year-old Karam Din, resident of Sadiqabad, was sentenced to life imprisonment by an Anti-Terrorism Court. He had been serving his term in jail for the last 18 years. He was kept in a high-security zone.

On Friday, Karam Din suddenly fell unconscious in the prison. He was brought to the Teaching Hospital where he died.

After the post-mortem, police handed over the body to the heirs who took it to Sadiqabad. -INP
