Peshawar police register 578 murder, attempted murder cases in 8 months: report

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar police have registered 578 cases of murder and attempted murder during the first eight months of 2023, as stated in a report issued by the police department.
According to the report, out of these cases, 371 were murder cases, while 207 were attempted murder cases. The police have arrested 555 suspects in murder cases and 1005 suspects in attempted murder.
The district police have also arrested 5269 people who were accused or suspected in various crackdowns against crimes such as aerial firing, displaying weapons, drug smuggling and selling, and other offences.
From the possession of those arrested, the police have recovered 456 AK-47 guns, 45 Kalashnikovs, 543 rifles, 283 shotguns, and 5815 pistols.
Additionally, they confiscated 26 hand grenades, Rs214,000 in cash, and various other weapons from those who were taken into custody.

The police said that they are committed to taking action against all types of crime and will not spare anyone involved in criminal activities.
