Petrol prices per litre in Pakistan decreased by Rs100?

ISLAMABAD: Recent reports claiming that petrol prices in Pakistan have dropped by Rs100 per litre have been proven false. Some media channels circulated the news, suggesting that the government had announced a major reduction in petroleum product rates.

Contrary to these claims, officials from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) confirmed that petrol prices remain unchanged. Current rates continue to reflect global oil market trends and domestic supply costs.

Experts caution that such misinformation can mislead consumers and create unrealistic expectations. The government has emphasised that any change in fuel prices is officially announced through authorized channels and is generally minor, linked to fluctuations in international crude prices and the exchange rate.

Motorists are advised to disregard social media posts or messages suggesting massive price reductions, as they do not reflect the actual situation at petrol pumps across the country.
