PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court has halted the announcement of the results of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2023.

A case challenging the alleged cheating using Bluetooth devices during the MDCAT was heard in the Peshawar High Court.

The court summoned the chief secretary, the executive director of the ETA and the registrar of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to provide an explanation.

While announcing the decision to halt the MDCAT results, the high court ordered that the results should not be uploaded until the next hearing.

The court adjourned the hearing of the MDCAT test case until September 21.

According to sources, several people had been taken into custody across the country for allegedly leaking the MDCAT paper.

The higher education secretary had earlier revealed that several candidates who attempted to transmit the test via Bluetooth devices were arrested.

He had explained that they had received information about a clandestine group planning to leak the MDCAT paper by using Bluetooth devices.

“It was reported that a group was to assist the candidates by sending them the paper through Bluetooth, allowing them to solve it in the examination halls,” the education secretary had said adding that the attempt was foiled.

These developments surrounding the MDCAT highlighted the challenges and importance of conducting fair and secure entry tests for aspiring medical students across the country.

MDCAT is considered a pivotal step in gaining admission to medical colleges.
