Phil Mickelson misses LIV Virginia but set to play PGA Championship

VIRGINIA: Phil Mickelson will miss this week’s LIV Golf Virginia event but is included in the field for next week’s PGA Championship.

The PGA of America announced its 154-player field for the May 14–17 tournament on Tuesday, confirming that Mickelson is set to compete at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. As a two-time PGA Championship winner, he holds a lifetime exemption into the event.

The 55-year-old has taken part in only one LIV Golf event this season due to a family health issue. He finished tied for 48th at LIV Golf South Africa in March and later skipped the Masters, where he is a three-time champion.

Scott Vincent will step in to replace Mickelson, captain of HyFlyers GC, for this week’s LIV Golf event at Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C.
