WEB DESK: A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight from Dubai to Islamabad was delayed after a disruptive passenger damaged an aircraft window while the plane was awaiting departure, the airline’s spokesperson said on Saturday.

According to the spokesperson, the flight was unable to depart due to the prevailing regional situation and remained on the ground for nearly three and a half hours despite being ready for take-off.

Passengers were served meals during the delay. However, after the meal service, a group of passengers allegedly attempted to create disorder on board.

The spokesperson said the cabin crew intervened to prevent the situation from escalating, but an agitated passenger smashed one of the aircraft’s windows during the disturbance.

Dubai security authorities were immediately informed and took the passengers accused of creating unrest into custody.

Following the incident, the aircraft was grounded, while the remaining passengers and crew were shifted to a hotel.

PIA said the flight is now scheduled to depart from Dubai for Islamabad at 11.15 pm on Saturday.
