Pink Bus Service: Two new routes launched for women passengers in Karachi

KARACHI: The Sindh government launched two new routes for women passengers on the Pink Bus service in Karachi on Monday.
The “Pink People’s Bus Service” ceremony marked the launch of the new routes. The event was held on Monday at the Frere Hall. The head of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Women’s Division Faryal Talpur cut a ribbon during the ceremony.

Later, she said that providing safe and comfortable travel options for women was necessary. Talpur stated that such initiatives helped in fostering “development and prosperity in society” by offering greater mobility to women.

The new routes offered, “R3” and “R9”, extend from Power House Chowrangi in northern Karachi to Nasir Jump road in Korangi, and from Gulshan-e-Hadeed to Merewether Clock Tower respectively.
A total of ten new pink buses were deployed to serve women passengers on these routes.
The government also announced two months of free travel for women on the pink buses. Meanwhile, the price of ticket for the bus service is fixed at Rs50.
