Interbank closing: PKR loses 9.52 paisa against USD


US dollar to Pakistan rupee

WEB DESK: In Tuesday’s interbank session, the Pakistani rupee (PKR) experienced a depreciation of 9.52 paisa against the US dollar (USD), closing at PKR 278.39 per USD, a slight drop from the previous session’s close of PKR 278.3 per USD.

During the trading day, the rupee saw an intraday high bid of 278.6 and a low ask of 278.4.

In the open market, exchange companies quoted the dollar at PKR 277.03 for buying and PKR 280.00 for selling.

The rupee’s performance against other major currencies was mixed. PKR appreciated by 11.92 paisa against the Euro, closing at PKR 302.47 compared to the previous value of PKR 302.59.

However, the British Pound rose by 64.97 paisa, settling at PKR 353.95 from PKR 353.3 the day before. The Swiss franc saw a slight depreciation of 8.03 paisa against the rupee, closing at PKR 305.86 compared to PKR 305.94 previously.

The Saudi Riyal gained 2.94 paisa, closing at PKR 74.23 up from PKR 74.2, and the UAE Dirham saw a slight appreciation of 2.59 paisa, closing at PKR 75.77 from PKR 75.79.

Against the Japanese Yen, the rupee gained 0.51 paisa, closing at PKR 1.782 versus 1.7871 a day earlier. Conversely, the Chinese Yuan experienced a minor loss of 2.28 paisa, ending the session at PKR 38.46 compared to PKR 38.48 from the previous day.
